Organizations and Ministries
Liturgical Ministries
Adoration: Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is available 24 hours a day. The Adoration chapel is located at the East entrance to the church.
Choirs: The music ministry enhances all week-end and special liturgies as well as the weekly school liturgy. Special choirs are formed for Christmas Midnight Mass and Easter Triduum liturgies for those who wish to participate on a limited basis.
Altar Servers: All boys and girls in grades 3 and above are invited to assist on the altar during weekend, daily and special Masses. Adults are welcome to assist the priest during Mass and Funerals.
Art and Worship: These ministers decorate the sanctuary to enhance the liturgical seasons. Artistic or creative talents not required.
Eucharistic Ministers: These ministers assist in the distribution of Holy Communion during Sunday and daily Masses and take the Eucharist to the sick and homebound.
Hospitality Ministry: Hospitality ministers are friendly persons or families who open doors and hearts as they welcome and greet all who come to worship.
Lector: Lectors proclaim the Word of God, lead the prayers of the faithful and read announcements at Mass.
Usher: These ministers welcome those attending Mass, assist in seating, the Communion procession and distributing bulletins. They pass the collection baskets and help with any emergencies that might arise at Mass.
Other Ministries
Van Drivers: A team of volunteers provides transportation to and from weekend Masses for residents of Good Shepherd Retirement Home, the Arkansas Veteran’s Home, Lion’s World Services for the Blind, and other locations as needed
Abba House: A home near Good Counsel church, established by Blessed Teresa of Calcutta and staffed with sisters from the Missionaries of Charity. Provides residential care for expectant mothers and their children, along with neighborhood ministry, jail visitation, and an annual summer Bible Camp for inner-city children. Good Counsel parishioners and volunteers from around Little Rock assist with support services, transportation and other needs for the Sisters.
Bread Ministry: Volunteers work in our school kitchen to bake European-style Bread for fund-raising for parish projects, as well as King Cakes For Mardi Gras and Eucharistic Bread for parish liturgies.
Senior Ministy: Seniors come together every Friday for Mass and Fellowship. This group prays the rosary for the increase of vocations then prepares the welcome packets, folds bulletins and organizes donted items to the parish.
Newsletter: Volunteers create and edit a parish-wide newsletter, distributed by hard-copy and e-mail, providing information on parish activities and encouraging articles for living as a Catholic Christian.
Catholic Campus Ministry: A diocesan outreach assisted by the parish, this ministry provides a Catholic presence on the campus of nearby UALR, including weekly lunches, Bible Studies, monthly Mass, service projects and other activities for UALR students, faculty and staff.
